Our members take part in competitions and flower festivals outside of our Club during the year.
Our Vice-Chairman, Tricia Loades, usually has a go at the competitions run by the Norwich Group of Flower Arrangers at the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society’s Shows. She entered their 2024 Spring Show in April 2024 and did quite well. The theme was ‘An Olympic Year – Paris 2024’. Tricia entered class F1 – Paris Olympics which was an exhibit depicting an event included in the Olympic Games, and came second out of three entries.
In August Tricia took part in the Carleton St Peter Flower Festival where the theme was ‘Operas and Musicals’. Tricia’s pedestal arrangement depicted Benjamin Britten’s Opera ‘Peter Grimes’.
To finish off the year Tricia took part in the Floral Art Classes at the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society’s Late Autumn Show at the St Faith’s Centre, Horsham St Faith’s in November. The theme was ’65th Anniversary’ and she entered class F1 – A Sapphire Celebration and came first, also winning runner up to Best in Show for this arrangement. She also entered class F2 – ‘Let’s Get Creative’ where she came second. This was out of four entrants in each class.
