Our Club took part in National Flower Arranging Day on Friday 3rd May by placing posies and arrangements in the local area for people to pick up and take home. There was a ticket with them which was for to come to one of our flower arranging demonstrations for free.
We had lots of likes on the Loddon Eye Facebook page along with some lovely comments. Amongst those received were: a lady had picked one up in Loddon and took it to her friend who has breast cancer. Another lady picked one up whose Mother had passed away that morning. One of our members who was going to place one outside her house, took it to Beauchamp House Care Home at Chedgrave, as it was raining. One in Poringland had been picked up by a school boy who kept it at school for the day and gave it to his Mum when he went home. Another of our members in Poringland saw that her arrangement hadn’t been picked up, because of the rain and she took it to the Barbers next door and a man in there was celebrating his wedding anniversary so took it home to his wife.
There were 25 arrangements and posies put out around Ashby St Mary, Chedgrave, Hales, Loddon, Poringland, Thwaite St Mary, Kirby Bedon, Rockland St Mary and Whitlingham. Thanks to all our members who took part in the day, as some of them made more than one arrangement.
At our May meeting the next week we had a lady from Ashby St Mary attend with one of the tickets, so it does work!
