This popular club, which is affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, was started in May 1958 and has attracted members from Loddon and the surrounding area ever since. We are in the East of England Area of NAFAS and in 2023 we celebrated our Blue Sapphire Anniversary of 65 years.

Meetings usually take place on the first Tuesday of the month, 6-30pm for 7pm in St John’s Lecture Hall, George Lane, Loddon, when members come to watch a high standard demonstration of flower arranging.

Occasionally there is an informal workshop, with the opportunity to try out a particular technique; sometimes an outing to a special venue or event; or a social occasion, often in a local garden.

Novices and more experienced members are shown mechanics and ideas for arranging flowers for home, church and special occasions, and learn techniques for interpretive work.

Some members take part in competitions and many enjoy helping with flower festivals in churches and elsewhere. Loddon Flower Club arrange the Remembrance flower displays in Norwich Cathedral every year.

On more than one occasion the club has represented the East of England Area Association of NAFAS at the RHS Flower Show at Chelsea, winning the Grenfell Medal there in 1989.

Whether you are a beginner or expert, want to participate or just relax and watch someone arranging beautiful flowers, come and join us.

Competitions are held throughout the year for Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Classes.  The L E Brewer Esq Trophy (1966) is for the Novice Class, the Elsie Basey-Fisher Plate (1990) is for the Intermediate Class and the Mrs S Morse Cup (1960) is for the Advanced Class.

In 2023 the trophy for the Novice Class was won by Jean Madgett, the Intermediate Class was won by Penny Mills and the Advanced Class was won by Tricia Loades. Any member is welcome to enter in any of these classes. So please do come along and have a try. Details of 2023/24 competitions are listed on the Upcoming Events page.

We also award another trophy to a member (not from the Committee) who has helped the club in the past year called the Baker Trophy (donated by Anne Baker). The recipient of the Bakers Cup this year is Roger Outlaw.

There is always something to learn, and possibly a lovely arrangement to take home. Why not come as a visitor and try us out! Our meetings are usually 6-30pm for 7pm.

Annual subscription: £35-00. Members over 80 years of age: £15-00. Visitor: £7-50.

Newsletters will be given out at meetings, from time to time, letting you know what is coming up at any future meetings.

This year we donated £50 to Guide Dogs for the Blind, in memory of our past Vice-Chairman, Peter Watson.
