Some of our members take part in competitions outside of our Club during the year.

Our Vice-Chairman Tricia Loades often has a go at them and took part in the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society Spring Show flower arranging classes in March 2023. She did well with winning the class F1 – Supermarket Sweep. This was to make an arrangement with flowers from the supermarket for not more than £15. Tricia came first in this class out of eight entrants. She also entered class F2 – Guess who’s coming to dinner. This was an arrangement for a dining table. Tricia didn’t receive an award for this class, but in case you can’t make it out, Harry Potter was coming to dinner!

Tricia also took part in two flower festivals. The first was at Carleton St Peter Church in August when they had a flower festival entitled ‘Rock and Pop’ and her arrangement was to represent Elvis Presley with his guitar. The second was at St Ethelbert’s Church, Thurton in September when they had their festival ‘Flowers In Royal Splendour’. Tricia’s arrangement portrayed the late Queen’s Silver Jubilee.

Tricia then took part in the Floral Art Classes at the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society’s Late Autumn Show at the St Faith’s Centre in November. The classes were F1 – A Woodland Christmas and F2 – All I want for Christmas. Tricia wasn’t placed in this show, but there were lots of good entries.
